Geography

The Republic of Belarus is situated in Eastern Europe, bordered on Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. 

Belarus has 6 regions:
                   Gomel - 40.4 thousand km²
                   Vitebsk - 40 thousand km²
                   Minsk - 40.2 thousand km²
                   Brest - 32.8 thousand km²       
                   Mogilev - 29.1 thousand km²
                   Grodno - 25.1 thousand km²

National flag of Belarus


State flag of the Republic of Belarus is a rectangular panel consisting of two horizontal colored stripes: the top - red width of 2/3 and the bottom - green 1/3 width of the flag. A vertical Belarusian national ornament in red on a white field, constituting 1/9 of the flag's length.

The State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus


The State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus is a green outline of the Republic of Belarus in golden rays of the sun over the globe. Above circuit is a five-pointed red star. Coat frame of wreath of golden ears intertwined flowers of clover on the right, left - flax. Spikes are interlaced with red and green ribbon on a bottom golden inscription "Republic of Belarus".

Belarus has set a national holiday - Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus and the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus, which is celebrated annually on the 2nd Sunday of May.

The national anthem of the Republic of Belarus is a product of the music and the words of Nestor Sokolovsky, Mikhail and Vladimir Klimkovich Korizny.

Weather
On the territory of Belarus is dominated by westerly winds that bring the sea air of the Atlantic Ocean. The average drop from 600 to 700 mm of rain in Belarus. Snow falls each year - for the first time in October and November, and the final snow cover is usually formed in December. The average annual humidity in Belarus is 80%.The average annual temperature in Belarus was (according to the standards from 1981 to 2010) by 5,7 ° C in the cities of Orsha and Slides to 8,2 ° C in Brest.

Rivers and lakes                                         
In Belarus there are 20 800 rivers  and about 11 thousand lakes. Most lakes in the north and north-west.
The longest river Dnepr - about 2285 km. Its origins are in the Valdai Hills. Currently, the lower reaches of the Dnieper River and its delta is constantly live or temporarily comes to more than 70 species of fish.
Belarus called a land of lakes. Almost all lakes in Belarus glacial origin, formed by the melting of the Valdai glacier. The longest lake in Belarus - Svir - the length of 14.1 km. Very deepest lake
  with not quite a suitable name - long. This lake is located in the Vitebsk region.




Vegetation. 
The natural vegetative cover of Belarus occupies about 67% of the territory and is represented by the forest, meadow and marsh vegetation. By the nature of the vegetation the territory of Belarus is available in two geo-botanical areas - Eurasian taezhnolesnoy subzones with oak and conifer forests and hornbeam-oak-dark coniferous forest and the European broadleaved forest zone with the subzone of broad-leaved and coniferous forests.

Forests
Forests cover about 37.8% of the territory of the republic. There are small areas around the marshes and fields or large arrays - puschami (Bialowieza, Nalibokskaya et al.). Almost 2/3 of the total forested area up conifers, broad-leaved forests (oak, hornbeam, maple, ash, linden) - about 5% of the forest area.
